Taking Breast Cancer Screening Beyond Standard Guidelines

Despite high awareness, fewer than 40% of Singaporean women aged 50-69 have had a recent mammogram. The BREATHE study aims to shift breast cancer screening from a one-size-fits-all aged-based approach to a personalised, risk-based model — factoring in genetics, breast density, and individual risk profiles. Researchers are also exploring digital tools to widen access and make screening more cost-efective at a national scale.
