Integrative Perspectives on the Host Microiome and Mental Wellbeing

The gut microbiome and brain are deeply interconnected regulators of mental health. This symposium brings together researchers across disciplines to explore how microbial signals shape brain function, behaviour, and psychiatric risk.
The GLOW (Gut Linked Outcomes in Wellbeing) cohort study is one of Asia's largest investigations into the gut microbiome and mental health. Complementing this, the LUCIDA Project at University of Wisconsin–Madison examines gut-depression links across diverse populations, using genomic, behavioural, and digital phenotyping approaches. Together, these initiatives aim to deepen our understanding of microbiome-brain interactions and to inform innovative strategies for the prevention and treatment of mental illness.
